A reminder for you:

Your skin is unique

No two people are alike. And neither are there two identical skins.

Each person has a singular composition of their own, with a particular beauty that stands out. This personal signature is what our Beauty Magnifier comes to showcase in a surprising way, combining a modern and inviting design with the features that make your beauty unique.

Upon entering our chamber you go through a quick skin analysis that will gather info on the composition of your skin, your expressions, and hydration levels. After that, you’re presented with a custom, personal visual of your personal traits, told through light, colors, projections, and sound. Then, you’ll receive a very sharable clip of your experience, as well as a sampler product bag — put together just for you — and an Amazon coupon.

Identifying importance and concerns

Hydration through skin analysis

Using a combination of LED lights and animations, our custom version of the Neutrogena Skin360 app and device will scan and get an overview of your skin, analyzing your face to identify the right selection of Neutrogena products for your skin.

Diving deep into the chamber

Your inner world with data

Each skin analysis generates your personal experience that can be shared as an artistic animation. Based on the data collected, different kinds of lights and sounds will be created, specifically curated for you.

Offering beautician education

Product guidance and skincare tips

Besides the digital animation, you’ll also receive a tangible piece of your Hydration levels, in the form of a card that captures your skin type through illustration. The card will also have important skin information, as well as education copy on how to best keep your specific skin refreshed and rehydrated.

Event documentation and results

Digital products in the physical space

There were a total of eight installations in California University locations, with UC Berkeley as our hero installation. Our focus for this marketing campaign was brand messaging, promotion/conversion, and PR value to schools. The experience is focused on students and takes place at Amazon Hub lockers. In order to grab attention it needs to be fun, quick, and add value, ideally helping with social validation.

Final thoughts and learning experience

Interactive installation and tech production

This documentation is the result of robust effort and expertise with a talented team of engineers, product managers, and designers. It was a genuine pleasure to see my UX visual concepts come to life together with my team for this Neutrogena and Amazon collaboration. Blessed for the learning opportunity to expand conceptual brand interface ideas and flows into an marketing campaign installation experience.
